The Croc Open Once More!

The Crocodile Comeback!

Since 1991, The Crocodile Cafe was a fixture of Seattle's music scene hosting shows for the likes of Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Modest Mouse, Sunny Day Real Estate, Band of Horses, Death Cab, Yoko Ono, Beastie Boys, The Presidents, R.E.M., Beck, The Strokes, Cheap Trick, Mudhoney, Elliott Smith, Neutral Milk Hotel, Dinosaur Jr.,  and David Bazan. In fact, the original owner, Stephanie Dorgan, was married to R.E.M.'s guitarist Peter Buck. Probably a large portion of the shows that I went to in Seattle were at the Crocodile Cafe.  And all this to say that the Croc was somehow closed down in 2007 to the dismay of all who enjoyed live music in Seattle.

So, for the last couple years I have been quietly lamenting the lack of Croc, despite the occasional Johnny Depp rumor which really only made it worse. However recently I noticed a lot of buzz that the Cafe was opening once more. Some bands even listed the Croc as a venue they were playing during their on their tour. I have been religiously checking the Croc's website but all it said was "new website coming soon." Today however, it is up and running with a calender of shows and everything, which makes me proud to announce that the Crocodile Cafe appears to be back in business!

As their website rightly says, "the Crocodile must be resurrected, and woven back into its rightful place in Seattle’s amazing cultural fabric...The Croc keeps swimming forward, just as we all do.

We look forward to welcoming you back."

Upcoming shows include U.S.E., Heartless Bastards, Dr. Dog, and Vetiver

Neutral Milk Hotel - King of Carrot Flowers pt 2 & 3 - Live at the Crocodile Cafe
Neutral Milk Hotel - Two Headed Boy - Live at the Crocodile Cafe
