Immaculate Machine Beckon Their Legs to Stop Wobbling
Even if their balancing skills aren't as great as their music, I am still looking forward to the Immaculate Machine's upcoming release, High On Jackson Hill. Having just recently been turned onto them, and being a sucker for an earnest voice, I dig. You can hear a few short clips from their forthcoming release on their website, which mostly sound like summertime pop morsels of tasty ear candy. They have a video for their (old) song "C'mon Sea Legs" that you can check out here. It sounds to me like a New Pornographers-meet-upbeat-Shearwater combination that is expansive and dynamic without being over the top.
Apparently, Kathryn Calder (the girl)'s uncle is A.C. Newman of NP fame (who's second album is fantastic) which explains part of their sound in
some twisted hereditary sense. All said and done, bands like this are why I love Canada.
Look for their new album to drop on April 29th on Mint Records.
